Responds to FCAST Letter Dear Mark,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to a subject that many
in our community are very passionate about, our swimming programs.
I am very impressed with the creation of FCAST and the problem-solving
that is being done. I agree that community-use to offset expenses
is a viable option and I would love to see community swim
lessons return. The manner in which your organization has
handled the budget issues is an example of what I have been
presenting in my platform. We need to think out-of-the-box
to find creative solutions that partner the community with
FCPS and enrich the lives of our students. The needs of the
swimming community have been brought to my attention, and
I have been formulating solutions much like those that you
have mentioned. I look forward to working with your team to
find funding solutions that will not only benefit out students,
but the entire community. I had swimming lessons at MHS in 4th/5th grade. I was on the
MHS swim team for three years and learned my life-guarding skills
at this pool. I later returned to teach swim lessons over the
summer at MHS. These experiences taught me many life lessons
and I assure you that I will do whatever I can to make sure
these opportunities are available to our children in the future. I love the last line of your email, it perfectly describes
what I hope to accomplish. I endeavor to be a force to improve
all programs for our students. That is the heart of my campaign.
I would like to attend a meeting to find out more information
on the research that you have been doing. Would that be possible? Thanks, April P.S. Would it be ok if I used your line in the future? I love
it.
